Natural or produced monohydrate alumina and trihydrate alumina have the characteristics of small pore volume, small specific surface area, and lower activity, and cannot be used as desiccants, adsorbents, catalysts, and catalyst carriers. Therefore, it is necessary to process alumina monohydrate or alumina trihydrate into pseudo boehmite. This product has characteristics such as high specific surface area, large pore volume, large pore size, and high activity, and is suitable for use as a desiccant, adsorbent, catalyst, and catalyst carrier in fields such as petrochemical, fertilizer, and tail gas.

There are several production methods for pseudo boehmite:
1、 The method of carbonization is used to prepare pseudo boehmite. The carbonization method for preparing this product is based on the sintering method for preparing alumina. Using the central product NaAlO2 solution and CO2 in the production process as reactants. The process is simple, the cost is low, there is basically no waste discharge, and the environmental pollution is small. This is a competitive advantage and a very promising approach. The quality of the product prepared by carbonization method is related to production conditions such as material concentration, gelation temperature, pH value, aging temperature and time, and drying temperature of wet filter cake. The defects of carbonization method in producing this product are that it contains impurities, low purity, and high consumption of sodium washing water. alpha
2、 The product is produced by alkaline method. In order to adapt to the replacement of catalysts in fertilizer plants, we have dealt with the research and production of fertilizer catalysts. The technical indicators of alumina carrier are: apparent density is 0.5-0.65 kg/L, alumina mass fraction is 94% -95.5%, sodium oxide mass fraction is 0.01% -0.03%, specific surface area is 175-250M2/g, pore volume is about 0.50ML/g, and pore size is 3-6nm. The pore size of the product is 0.7-1ml/g, with a dispersed pore size of 10-50nm. The suitable pore size is 40nm. It is a high-quality product with a wide range of uses.
3、 The product is produced by acid method. The deposition agent ammonia (or sodium hydroxide, sodium carbonate, etc.) is added to the solution of aluminum trichloride (or aluminum sulfate), and then the product is obtained through deposition, filtration, washing, and drying. The effects of neutralization temperature, pH value, concentration of reactants, and aging conditions on pore structure were studied. This method has the advantages of large pore volume, large specific surface area, and high cost.
4、 It is a double aluminum method to produce pseudo boehmite. The so-called "double aluminum method" is the preparation of this product by reacting aluminum sulfate and sodium metaaluminate in parallel.
